Jane-Marie Whiston

The concept for this art website is to raise funds for a cause that Jane has personally chosen to support.  Each of the three specific charities, Lou’s Place, Guide Dogs and Butterfly Foundation have a personal connection and specific significance to Jane.

The sales from each piece of art will not go to a third party or to the artist herself but will be donated to the three charities equally.

For every artwork sold, 100% of the sales will be donated to the charities.

Together as an artist and as an art buyer, we can make a difference making “Art for Purpose”.

“Question of Illusion”

Having graduated from Sydney College of the Arts with a BVA Honours in painting in 2006, the four years of working in a completely different style of painting, has provided me with a sense of freedom and the ability to develop my own individual style within a contemporary art practice.

The use of colour is of significant interest and the actual process of how the colours naturally merge and react is important. The whole notion of the juxtaposition of light and dark which together play with the subject of spatiality, provides a dimensional quality to the work. The way the materials create an almost phantasmagorical element and how they shift from dark to light is something that can be continually explored.

Painting is all about visual representation and through the exploration of the various differing painting method produces a piece of work that results in a feeling of spontaneity. This takes the work into another dimension, as it requires the viewers to look at the painting without any preconception and come to their own conclusion regarding the subject matter. The outcome can often result in an image appearing out of the painting and taken to a more representational stage or else it will remain in its pure abstract form as a Question of Illusion.”
